Christine Battocchio

My work has always been influenced by the environment. In past practices my work was largely one-off pieces. That concept was based on the sustainability of the planet with the future of the environment competing against industry, population growth, economics and pollution. I am also interested in a connection between landscape, masculinity and femininity, as well as identity of self through cultural specific geographies. Our emotional connection to landscape, whether it be natural or built is, in my opinion, undeniable. More recently I have been working mostly in a commercial sense where my love for nature and the environment is reflected in my work through the use of colour and shape. Although most of the shapes are largely organic, ocassionally I am lead to a more synthetic colour palette with the shapes becoming more angular in their composition.
