Anatomy and biology offer infinite inspiration for my cast silver jewellery. I was trained in science and art at the John’s Hopkins School of Medicine (USA) and brought my practice as a professional medical artist creating anatomical illustrations for medical textbooks to Melbourne (Northcote) in 1996. My specialised area of illustration informs the work you see here. In fact some of the designs began as special commissions for doctors and specialists in their fields of medicine, like the Coronary Artery Bypass cufflinks or the design depicting access to the base of the brain via the nasal sinuses. But most of these anatomical pieces simply appeal to a universal fascination of humans with our own bodies. The forms that lie beneath the skin are amazingly beautiful, complex and connect us all. I continue to explore the realms of anatomy and medicine, representing their features and concepts in silver, gold, semi-precious stones and pearls, and am happy to accept commissions for new designs.
