Gaye Abandon / Body PartsBioHer much cherished stashes of fabrics, haberdashery, felted jumpers and ephemera provide the inspiration for Gaye Naismith's Gaye Abandon range designed and made in Melbourne. Gaye shares her fondness for repurposed and preloved materials by transforming them into something fresh and useful. Her accessories and homewares are inspired by domestic crafts turned out by generations of resourceful and creative women that use materials found around the house to make decorative, functional and unique objects. In 2006 Gaye teamed up with Melanie Hill (Textile Allsorts), to create the Body Parts Winter Accessories range which transforms recycled, felted wool jumpers into snug, handmade winter accessories. Gaye and Melanie are committed to sustainable production. Second-hand materials are used wherever possible. Electricity is sourced from 100% wind power, water used in the felting process is recycled on the garden and there is a 'minimal waste' policy. |
