The Impact of Colonial Vision

Louise O'Neil's is an Art History Honours graduate from the University of Queensland and is a Brisbane-based freelance arts writer and curator. In her essay, titled Art vs Craft: The Impact of Colonial Vision, Louise questions if our 'long history of colonial vision [has] skewed our definitions, and evaluations, of art and craft today'?

Louise is currently Manager of the Brisbane Emerging Art Festival and is completing a Master of Museum Studies at the University of Queensland. She is passionate about the representation of Indigenous art and the influence of colonial vision, and has previously lived and worked in the remote Aboriginal community of Ramingining, Arnhem Land, as manager of the Bula'bula Aboriginal Art Centre.
