Rug up in a new way this May at the Craft Hatch market. This month Melbourne's freshest makers market features machine knitted creations by Reckless Exuberance. A new label by Textile Design Graduate Allysha Coghlan, the innovative range features machine knitting applied to unlikely outcomes – including a backpack, high waisted shorts and decorative headdresses.

After graduating, Coghlan set up a studio with some friends, and began to develop her range. "I experimented and played extensively, just following my creative instincts. It was wonderful being able to explore knitting in whichever ways I wanted; this helped me to develop my own unique knitwear items."

Coghlan says "I have always been interested in textiles. I loved handcrafts and creating things all throughout my childhood. I had enjoyed hand knitting as a hobby, but at University I found I was really connected to this craft. The entire process was something I just synchronized with."

Reckless Exuberance will be selling products including neck-pouches, headdress, hair combs, gloves and hoods. Prices range from $15–$120 .

Also featured at the May Craft Hatch market: and o designs, Andrei Davidoff, The Candle Hut, Caravan Creative, Chloe Smith, Gitte, Jessie Willow Tucker, Minnette Michael, Pine Lime and Polka Dot Rabbit.

Craft Hatch markets are presented by Craft Victoria on the second Saturday of every month, 11am-4pm.
