Fringe Furniture Winner of Craft Victoria's Innovation in Crafted Design Award 2010
Daniel has designed a chair and ottomans for Craft Victoria after receiving his award last year, using Australian hard woods and natural fibres. We are very excited to be presenting these new works.
Artist statement
After sampling various trades, the one that captivated me the most was Furniture Upholstery. I had found something in which I could put my creative flair to good use and undertook a four year apprenticeship where I received various apprentice awards.
After training with a small upholstery company I began working with Moran furniture where I worked closely with the research and development department, and enjoyed the challenge of helping with the design aspect of one of Australia's leading furniture manufacturers. It was around this time that I realized I wanted to launch my own business and so in 2004 Signature Sofas was born.
Modestly working by referrals for the majority of my business, I have decided it's time to put all my energy into Signature Sofas and am now looking to expand my range. I have new pieces represented in shops and galleries, allowing me to extend myself and my creative vision in furniture design. I love to work with quality, honest materials and believe furniture should be nothing less than amazing.
