“We both love making new and useful things from recycled textiles, and shrunken jumpers are our favourite material! The jumpers felt up unpredictably and to varying degrees so each one presents different possibilities and challenges.
For our 'two-of-a-kind' Tubeway Armies arm warmers, the signature product in our Body Parts range, we make different cutting and embellishing decisions according to the weight and texture of each jumper. The left-over scraps also go to different uses depending on their particular quality. Some are cut to make scarves, others become armie embellishments. Some of the jumpers shrink way too much to be used for the Body Parts range, so Gaye transforms these super thick ones into woolly purses, hot water bottle covers and other Gaye Abandon products.”
