Cindy-Lee Davies presents Tis Knot, a new collection of work combining high end product design, traditional craft techniques and large scale recycling.
Showing in Craft Victoria’s 24/7 curated window space enCOUNTER, Tis Knot is part of the State of Design festival’s Look.Stop.Shop. program – a series of installations to be featured in retail window spaces throughout Melbourne’s CBD. These installations will explore themes of sustainability and eco-design.
Tis Knot is a collection of occasional seating and domestic objects made from post-consumer waste products and embellished with traditional craft techniques. The collection highlights the larger environmental issues associated with the creation and disposal of lifestyle consumer goods. With product names like Torana, Holden, Datsun and Gemini, these pieces use recycled car and bike tyres in juxtaposition with crochet techniques. The Tis Knot collection represents a unique combination of high end product design and large scale recycling in collaboration with Australian manufacturers.
