Throughout Jessica Morrison’s creative journey she has played with a personal iconography. In this exhibition, we see a menagerie of animals imbued with Morrison’s whimsical humour. Using simple techniques of modelling, Morrison brings her objects to life in a playful and joyous manner. Each work is stylised in the form of a ‘reliquary’ to evoke both tribal and religious iconography. With a base of semi-precious metals and the embellishments of enamel, gold leaf and man-made stones these animal figures assume a potent material reverence.
