Blanche Tilden
Blance Tilden is recognised as an innovator in the fields of contemporary jewellery and contemporary glass. Her work is characterised by references to technology, industrial production and the built environment. Beginning her studies in 1988 at Sydney College of the Arts, Tilden graduated from the Canberra School of Art, ANU, in 1995, with qualifications in Glass and Gold & Silversmithing. In 1995, she relocated to Melbourne to undertake an Australia Council funded traineeship with Australian goldsmith and designer, Susan Cohn. In 2005 she mentored jeweller and designer Phoebe Porter with whom she later founded Studio Hacienda. In 2008 Studio Hacienda was awarded the State of Design Premier's Design Mark for the ongoing collaborative jewellery project General Assembly.

Tilden has received a number of awards including the inaugural ANU Stephen Procter Fellowship, the Pilchuck International Glass School Scholarship, and the Collectors Choice Award at the 38th International Glass Art Society Conference. Her work is held in a number of international, national and regional public collections, including the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New York, the Toledo Museum of Glass, Toledo, Ohio, the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Powerhouse Museum, Queensland Art Gallery, Art Gallery of South Australia, Art Gallery of Western Australia and the National Glass Collection, Wagga Wagga.

Based in Melbourne, at Boyd School Studios, Southbank, Tilden is working towards a solo exhibition of new work scheduled to be exhibited at Gallery Funaki, Melbourne in 2012.

Stuart McFarlane

Stuart McFarlane has moved consistently within and around the international design community developing his unique design perspective. McFarlane's "conscientious design" approach has gathered international support through key publications, exhibitions and appointments. Nominated as the No. 1 Australian Design Graduate of 2004 by Monument Architectural journal, McFarlane soon gathered further recognition through consistent finalist placings in the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Awards and, more recently, the Rigg Contemporary Design Award. McFarlane's exhibitions in Australia and abroad include a 2007 appointment by the City of Melbourne as Ambassador for Melbourne Design in Milan.

His lecturing appointments at RMIT and the Melbourne Museum, have given him the opportunity to promote an holistic design method that incorporates social, economic and environmental determinants. Of particular note to the design community, McFarlane's investigations into folding recycled plastic are a singular example of treating ecological concerns as axiomatic.

In 2008 McFarlane opened his design studio to a wider audience and has since collaborated with clients to develop interiors, product design, and edition furniture and lighting. McFarlane continues to produce self-initiated designs investigating functionality and materiality, while allowing clarity and balance to preside.

Stuart McFarlane's works are held in the permanent collection of the Powerhouse Museum Sydney and the private collection of Rossana Orlandi Milan.
